After many years of experimenting with natural treatments to help with my eczema, I have found that herbs are your best friend. There are many herbs and natural methods to heal eczema and sooth inflamed skin. In this article, I’m including some of my favorite herbs and how to use them.

Just scoop a couple of tablespoons of the herbs into the centre of a square of cheesecloth or a washcloth, pull the edges up, and tie with a string.
My favorite blend of herbs is Dr. Christopher’s BF&C Cut Formula. I use it in my hand soaks, foot soaks, and baths. This formula contains White Oak Bark, Comfrey Root, Marshmallow Root, Mullein Leaf, Black Walnut Leaf, Gravel Root, Wormwood Herb, Lobelia Herb & Scullcap Herb.
If you want to make a simple herbal mix for soaking and compresses with herbs you can find in your yard, mix Mullien leaves and flowers, Plantain leaves, and Shavegrass (also known as puzzlegrass).
Poultices AKA Herb Oils
Another of my favorite ways to use herbs for eczema is a poultice. To make this, combine equal parts ground Plantain leaf, ground Shavegrass, and oil in a small container and let it soak for about five minutes. Fresh herbs are more comfortable than dried herbs.
While that is going, wash the inflamed skin with warm water and prepare a surface that will not get stained by the oil. If you are applying this poultice to your feet or hands, you can use a small container to put your hands or feet in, or if you are applying it to your back you will need to cover the chair you are sitting on with plastic wrap.
Rub the poultice on the inflamed area and let sit for at least an hour. Wash off with warm water and moisturize.
